About Christine Rickmon
Dedicated Leader for Agawam
I’m Christine Rickmon, and I’m proud to call Agawam home. Originally from Illinois, I earned my teaching certificate and began my career in education there before moving to Florida, where I continued teaching until the birth of my son in 2021. After taking time off to be with him, I returned to the classroom to teach kindergarten—where I quickly saw how standardized testing and systemic challenges were taking the joy out of learning. That moment sparked a big decision for our family.
We knew we wanted our children to grow up in a place where education is valued, communities are strong, and all four seasons are part of life. After researching and traveling, we found everything we were looking for in Western Massachusetts. With our newborn twin daughters and toddler in tow, we sold our house, packed up, and landed in Agawam. It instantly felt like home.
My husband and I were both raised in working-class communities, and we wanted to raise our children with those same values—hard work, fairness, and looking out for your neighbors. Agawam offers so much, but I believe it can offer even more. After listening to residents and watching what’s happening at the local and national level, I felt compelled to step up.
My diverse life experiences—as an educator, a mom, and a community member who’s lived in different parts of the country—give me a fresh, grounded perspective. Combined with a strong sense of purpose and a fighting spirit, I’m ready to bring that perspective to the Agawam City Council. I’m not running to be a politician. I’m running to be a voice for the people—because Agawam deserves leaders who listen, work together, and fight for the future we all believe in.
